Hiking - Mossy Cave and Turret Arch, outside Bryce Cyn 1/24/25

This gem outside Bryce Cyn is way cooler in the winter!


Sample Itinerary:

3 - 4pm - Scenic Bryce Canyon Drive from Ruby's Inn with many Overlooks (Agua & Ponderosa Canyon, Natural Bridge, Rainbow Point & more!). 1 hr 10 min drive from hotel. Paved road 38 miles total out n back. Allow more time for stops.


Directions: 

Mossy Cave Trailhead, near Bryce Cyn

Yovimpa Point, end point for Scenic Bryce Canyon Drive


Cost: Hike is free.

If you go inside Bryce Cyn - $35 per vehicle Bryce Canyon entrance fee; free if you have National Parks Pass


Activity:

Hike - Mossy Cave Turret Arch - 0.9 mi out and back. 25 min Easy. Hike over two bridges and then hand left to check out Mossy Cave (alcove). Then head back up on the left side of the river to an overlook above the waterfall and a view of the Little Windows above and to the right. Waterfall is also accessable by going below the second bridge and hiking up river right to the falls about 200 ft.


Gear:  Ice Cleats- strongly encouraged. Trails are dry with some ice patches. Good to have especially if you have knee, hip or balance concerns. (NO COTTON) thermal top and bottom (synthetic yoga pants), wool socks or just not cotton socks, snow pants (if it will be snowing, otherwise they get too hot), long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, camelback or regular back pack (with space remaining to shove clothes in when you get too warm), 1 Liters water, 3-4 snacks +road trip snacks and such, toiletries, casual clothing, swimsuit, yoga mat, National Parks Pass (if have), telescope or binoculars for star gazing
