Directions: Lower Dry Fork Trailhead, Hole in the Rock Road, Escalante

Activity:

Hike Peekaboo and w Cyn - 6.3 mile loop crawling through sandstone passages. Go up Peekaboo and down Spooky. Smallest about 12 inches in Spooky Cyn. At 2 spots it is tighter than 12 inches. There is NO water on this trip and tempuratures can get high March-Nov with NO shade. Don't attempt with rain - flashflood danger. This route requires a 15 foot scramble up a slickrock wall with marginal foot and handholds into Peekaboo Canyon followed more scrambling. Spooky Canyon requires a 10 foot downclimb scramble with little to no footholds on overhanging boulders. Spooky Canyon is also very narrow and requires most adults to slide sideways while dragging their backpacks behind them for most of the canyon. Had to climb up a spot with minimal hand holds, but with more than 2 people it is doable. With super tight spaces claustrophobia could be an issue. There can be some spots with water.
