Rappelling - Mammoth Wall, Lindon 10/11/24



Itinerary:

MORNING GROUP

Trailhead - 8:00 am

Hike/Rappelling – 8:00 am - 12:30 pm


AFTERNOON GROUP

Trailhead - 1:00 pm

Hike/Rappelling – 1:00 pm - 5:30 pm


Directions: Dry Canyon Trailhead, Lindon


Activity: Rappelling Mammoth Wall - multiple rappell options from 40-100+ ft with chains and/or bolts.

  • WARNING - lots of loose and sharp rocks. Use edge protectors.

  • There is a small bush north of the smallest rappel about 30 ft up the hill from the trail that we tie a hand line to to help people up the very loose rocky slopes you hike up to get back to the rappels. On the further south rappels, recommend just going around the base to the south and taking the regular hiking trail back up.

  • Approach - Hike about 0.5 mile to the base of the rappell and then another 0.7 mi to the top. Approach Map


Gear: Harness (can rent), climbing helmet, rappel device, leather gloves, thin T-shirt, thin long-sleeve shirt, fleece, rain jacket, shorts or hiking pants, running shoes or boots, 1 L water , 2-4 snacks, small backpack, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, first aid kit.


Rentals:

Harness: $5/day (BYU Outdoors Unltd)

Helmet: $4/day (BYU Outdoors Unltd); $6/day (UVU Outdoor Adventure Center)
