Sample Itinerary:

Instruction and hike - 10:00 am - 10:30 am

Climb - 10:30 am - 2:00 pm

Directions: Across the street from Storm Mt Picnic Area, Big Cottonwood Cyn (avoid picnic area fees by parking across the street)

Activity: Rock Climbing - 5.6-5.11+ sport routes. Lead climb routes. Reservoir Ridge (Muddy Ethics, Errors of Our Ways, Iraq in the Back Attack, I Ran to Afganistan) Mountain Project Trip Report.

Approach includes steep scree. Belay station is slanted. Morning sun, afternoon shade. Note that first route has only 2 bolts when reported as 6. Easy setup, as most routes can be lead and then a TR setup for neighboring route. Furthest right route requires a 70m rope. Great climbing with great views! A popular place, expect other parties on the wall.

The focus is to cover the introduction to outdoor top rope (TR) rock climbing. Ropes will be set up for you and we will give instruction/review of belay technique. This clinic is suitable to any new climber or indoor climber transitioning to outdoor, or any outdoor climber wanting a review for the start of the season. Methods and techniques for this curriculum are expected to be followed by the group for the safety of everyone.
